Welcome to Lazy JP Ranch
Julie started showing Longhorns with her Aunt and Uncle, Sue and Frank Bowdoin of Crown B Ranch, in 1996. Julie missed spending time with Longhorns so we started raising them in 1998 when Julie
won her first calf from the Ark-La-Tex Association calf giveaway. Since that time we have expanded the herd to around 30 females with a focus on traditional conformation and twisty horns. We raise not only registered Longhorns but
crossbred commercial cattle as well. We're using all the traits that make Longhorns profitable to form a base for our commercial herd. We recently expanded our herd to include some of the finest miniature Longhorns we could find. We feel
that miniatures are a great way to share the benefits of the Longhorn with smaller breeders and younger showmen. We are excited about this new chapter in the history of our ranch.
Our favorite part of raising Longhorn is the personalities of our cattle. There is nothing like calling herd members by name and having them wander over for some personal attention. They are so relaxing to be around and they enrich our lives here on the ranch.
We take pride in the gentleness, longevity and traditional characteristics of our cattle. We would like to showcase those aspects of both the standard and
minis. Our target client base is smaller clients looking for a mini show calf or a traditional twisty horned standard.
We also offer farm raised beef by the side or by the pound. Our cattle are grass raised and grain finished using feed produced at a local mill. We strive to offer a naturally lean product with a superior flavor. All of our beef calves are raised in groups and cared for with the same level of attention we lavish on our breeding herd to ensure they produce the best possible product for our customers.
